The issue of broadband disconnection of the D-LINK DIR-615 wireless-N router from the ADSL MODEM is about a simple error of configuration of WAN speed in the cable connection between the router and the ADSL modem. the default configuration is autodetect 10/100 and it always tries to connect using 100mbps. This configuration sometimes works when both the ADSL modem and the DIR-615 router are "cold", but when the connection looses power or the actual router is turned off and is hot, it will no get any signal from the modem, the router cannot get a automatic IP and it will not recognize the ADSL modem. However, that simple problem has a simple solution. Here are the steps to solving this issue:
1.- Open the DIR-615 router configuration page by entering the following address in your browser: http://192.168.0.1
The following screen should appear: (right click for full size image)
2.- Put your user and password (I assume you have configured it). If you have never changed the router password the just write admin on the login and DO NOT write a password. The PC with which you will configure the D-link DIR-615 router must be wired to the router (yes with a cable!). This should never be done through a wireless connection. Once you have done that, you will get to the Setup screen:
3.- Enter the ADVANCED menu of the DIR-615 Router ; you will get to the following screen:
4.- I the ADVANCED menu, click the ADVANCED NETWORK option from the lateral menu of the D-LINK DIR-615 (it is shown with a red arrow on the las picture). then you will get to the following menu:
5.- Click WAN PORT SPEED and chose 10mbps not 100 or 10/100. Then everything should work now. No more lost internet signal.
